Terms and Conditions
Talking Couch Therapy
Welcome to Talking Couch Therapy. We appreciate you taking the step to explore psychological support. These Terms and Conditions outline the framework within which our services are provided and help ensure clarity, safety, and transparency for both service users and clinicians.
By accessing our website or engaging in therapy services with Talking Couch Therapy, you agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Consent to Therapy
Before therapy begins, you will be asked to review and sign a consent form shared by your clinician. By signing this form, you confirm your agreement to engage in therapy services provided by Talking Couch Therapy.
These terms, along with the consent form, may be updated periodically without prior notice. The most current version will always be available on our website.
2. Nature of Services
Talking Couch Therapy provides psychological therapy and counselling services using evidence-based and integrative approaches. Therapy is tailored to individual needs, and we encourage open communication if anything during the process feels uncomfortable or unclear.
Our services are not crisis or emergency services. We do not provide immediate support outside of scheduled sessions. In emergencies, clients are advised to contact local emergency services or crisis helplines.
3. Session Format
-
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes in duration.
-
Sessions are currently offered online.
-
The number and frequency of sessions are decided collaboratively between you and your clinician, based on your goals and needs.
4. Appointments, Payments & Cancellations
-
Payment must be made in advance, at least one week prior to the scheduled session.
-
Payment is currently accepted via bank transfer.
-
Insurance invoicing is not yet available but is being explored.
Cancellations
-
Sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 48 hours’ notice.
-
Sessions cancelled or missed within 48 hours of the appointment time will be charged in full.
-
If a client does not attend the session within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time, the session will be considered a no-show.
5. Confidentiality
All therapy sessions are confidential. Clinicians may maintain clinical notes as part of ethical practice, which remain securely stored and accessible only to authorised professionals within TCT.
Confidentiality may be broken only in the following circumstances:
-
Risk of serious harm to yourself or others
-
Legal or court-mandated disclosure
-
Safeguarding concerns
-
Professional supervision to maintain quality of care
Clients agree not to record sessions or share session content without explicit written consent.
6. Minors
For clients under the age of 18, parental or legal guardian consent is required. Information shared with parents will be limited unless there is a significant safeguarding concern. Wherever possible, this will be discussed with the young person first.
7. Professional Boundaries
The therapeutic relationship is strictly professional. To maintain ethical boundaries:
-
Therapists cannot engage in personal or social relationships with clients
-
Gifts, bartering, or services exchanged outside therapy are not permitted
-
Communication outside sessions is limited to scheduling and administrative matters
8. Duty of Care
If a clinician reasonably believes there is an imminent risk of harm, appropriate steps may be taken to protect the client or others, including contacting emergency services or relevant authorities.
9. Limitation of Liability
Talking Couch Therapy is not responsible for outcomes outside the scope of therapy sessions, nor for actions taken by clients outside sessions. Therapy outcomes vary, and no specific results can be guaranteed.
